JoCo Sports Launches Weekly Football Podcast SMITHFIELD — Johnston County high school football fans can get their fix in a new way this season. The JoCo Sports High School Football Podcast replaces JNOW Media’s long-running “Game of the Week” Friday night live broadcast format, shifting to a podcast structure that provides coverage of every high school team in the county each week. Hosted by Randy Capps and Justin Roy, the new format allows for more in-depth discussion of every high school in the county. The podcast debuted in August with a 2025 season preview, with the first episode running just over an hour and setting the stage for what is expected to be an unpredictable year. “We wanted to change the way we look at the county’s football scene,” said Capps. “We like the idea of trying something new, and we think football fans will enjoy what we’re bringing to the table.” One of the central topics in the first episode is the county’s new conference structure, which has reshuffled traditional matchups and created a new competitive landscape. While the show has a new format, it keeps its local focus front and center, blending game talk with community perspective. Listeners can count on a mix of stats, strategy, a touch of personality and the occasional special guest.
