South Smithfield, NC — The Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County is thrilled to announce a generous $2,000 donation from Heidelberg Materials, a global leader in the building materials industry. Heidelberg Materials' investment will directly support programs that empower local youth through academic support, leadership development, and healthy lifestyle initiatives at the Club’s South Smithfield and Selma locations.
The check presentation took place at the South Smithfield Elementary School-based Club, where youth gathered to celebrate the contribution with Club staff. The funds will help ensure that youth in Johnston County have access to safe, enriching environments after school where they can learn, grow, and build meaningful relationships.
“Heidelberg Materials’ support means more than just funding—it’s a powerful investment in the future of our community,” said Kelly Blanchard, Director of Resource Development & Community Engagement at Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County. “Their generosity will help us continue providing life-changing programs for children who need us most.”
In addition to their financial support, Heidelberg Materials plans to engage with Club members through a future on-site educational program at both the Selma and South Smithfield Clubs. This upcoming initiative will introduce youth to the wide variety of career paths available within Heidelberg Materials, ranging from engineering and operations to logistics and environmental sciences, providing early exposure to career opportunities in the construction and building materials industry.
